Pestana Douro Riverside

When I arrived at the Pestana Douro Riverside, in Valbom, I immediately sensed a rare dialogue between reclaimed industrial architecture and the serene landscape of the Douro river. I devoted myself to capturing the way the warm-toned facade mirrors itself in the calm water and how the rooftop infinity pool seems to dissolve into the river horizon. I sought to make every frame convey that riverside-resort feeling, just minutes from the historic heart of Porto.

Indoors, I aimed to translate the contemporary comfort of the suites, with their serene palette of pale woods and seafoam greens, always oriented toward the light and the river view. I photographed the wellness areas, the spa and the gym, the meeting rooms and the social spaces, attentive to the design details that give the hotel its identity. I worked with the natural light pouring through the large windows to reveal the texture and openness of each room.

I rounded off the series with the gastronomic and events dimension of the Pestana Douro Riverside: tables set on the terrace above the Douro, buffets of pastries and fresh fruit, dishes prepared with care. I wanted to record the hospitality lived in this place, where the riverbank becomes a setting for celebrations and moments of pause. It was a privilege to photograph a space that unites the industrial memory of the Douro with the elegance of a five-star hotel.
