Pestana Fisherman Village

Câmara de Lobos, Madeira, Portugal ·2026

Arriving at the Pestana Fisherman Village, in Câmara de Lobos, I let myself be drawn into the soul of a fishing village that has inspired painters and writers alike. I devoted myself to capturing the dialogue between ancient stone, warm timber and the maritime spirit that runs through every room — from the library to the cloister, from the patio with its water mirror to the terrace. At the top, I sought the exact moment when the panoramic pool merges with the ocean and the red-tiled rooftops climbing the hillside.

Indoors, I aimed to translate the contemporary comfort of this boutique hotel: the rooms of modern lines, the nautically inspired decor, the details that evoke the memory of Madeira’s fishermen. I photographed the timber-beamed ceilings, the original stone walls and the social spaces where the island light pours in generously. I worked each frame to reveal the texture and unique character of a building that breathes history.

I rounded off the series with the hotel’s gastronomic side: the breakfasts served with fresh fruit and pastries, the signature dishes celebrating the sea, the regional wines. I wanted to record the serene hospitality lived in this place, where the view over the bay of Câmara de Lobos turns every meal into a memorable moment. It was a privilege to photograph a space that honours the fishing identity of Madeira with the elegance of a charming hotel.
