Pestana Plaza Mayor Madrid

Madrid, Spain ·2026

Photographing the Pestana Plaza Mayor Madrid meant diving into the historic heart of the Spanish capital, in a Baroque building overlooking the legendary Plaza Mayor. I devoted myself to capturing the contrast between the centuries-old facade and the contemporary design of the interiors, with their deep blue tones and exposed original stone. At the top, I sought the exact moment when the rooftop pool reflects the rooftops of Madrid and the towers cutting across the horizon.

Indoors, I aimed to translate the elegance of this collection hotel: the rooms and suites of modern lines, many with balconies over the square, the exposed-brick walls that tell centuries of history, and the building’s noble staircase. I also photographed the intimate spa, the salons and the glazed garden-patio, attentive to the dialogue between heritage and present-day comfort. I worked the light to reveal the unique texture of each space.

I rounded off the series with the hotel’s gastronomic and leisure dimension: the signature dishes served with refinement, the terraces overlooking Madrid, the rooftop bar beneath the turquoise parasols. I also recorded the Plaza Mayor itself, the stage of centuries of Madrid history, which gives this property its identity. It was a privilege to photograph a place where the history of Madrid is lived in every window and every terrace.
