There is a secret place on earth, a point of intersection between nature, comfort, sophistication and the rustic. A place where peace permeates every square inch. A setting so welcoming you could call it home.
In a remote spot on the famous beach of São Miguel dos Milagres, a former coconut farm gave rise to one of the most incredible boutique hotels I’ve ever photographed. Amid a vast plantation of coconut palms, Villas Taturé rises imposingly, blending into the landscape with a sustainable architecture project, harmonising with the land and respecting the life around it. Every detail of the hotel is genuinely designed to deliver an experience to guests. There are so many details that you couldn’t take them all in on a single visit.
Let’s start with the hotel’s outdoor area.
Reception

This is the hotel reception, fully crafted with a predominance of wood. Blocks of concrete and glass blend into the landscape. A true reminder to visitors of what they’ll find.
One of the things I liked most: the moment you arrive, you’re immediately served a delicious chilled coconut water to refresh the soul. And it’s worth noting — it was the sweetest coconut water I’ve ever had in my entire life.

After the personalised welcome, guests are taken to discover the place while their luggage is brought to their accommodation.
What comes next is simply surreal. Stepping in among the coconut palms, the landscapes gradually reveal themselves. With every blink, a new little corner invites you to photograph and settle in. It’s hard to choose among the variety of spots available to relax.
Outdoor Area

These are some of the leisure spaces we find in this little slice of paradise. A view that impacts even the most sceptical travellers. Here everything was designed to bring tranquillity and calm. During the time I was working, the hotel was full, yet I could barely see the guests, thanks to the vastness of the space and how private it is. Privacy here is taken very seriously! One really interesting thing: you can request any service whatsoever through a WhatsApp group. Whether at the beach’s edge or by the pool, here your wish is a command.
As an example of the privacy, I’ll present some of the images I captured throughout my photographic journey in this enchanting place.
Exclusive Spots

These are the private beachfront cabanas. Each accommodation has its own! Having a drink there out front, or a lovely breakfast looking at the sea, is a visual and culinary poetry that deserves to be experienced.

Each of these spots presented is private; even in common areas, every guest has their own private beach cabana, a little cabana near the main pool, plus the exclusive pool of their own accommodation. They all come with dedicated service and you can request whatever you wish throughout your stay.
It’s no wonder Villas Taturé has one of the highest return rates in all of São Miguel dos Milagres’ hotel scene. A perfect job carried out by every department of the hotel.
Let’s continue!
How about we tackle a subject that exudes incomparable flavour, aromas, look and texture? One of the things that left me jaw-dropped was the cuisine at Villas — seriously, it was one of the few hotel cuisines that I ate with all the appetite in the world!
Many people know that, in hotels generally, the food is bad and cheap — and you’ll see me touching on this subject a lot here on the blog. But we must make some caveats and separate a series of situations, one of them being: “This is a hotel where we feel no need to leave it.” It sounds like a joke, but it isn’t; the central idea here is that you don’t feel like leaving! Let’s think about it — why would you leave a place where you have everything? Especially when you have a menu that would make famous chefs’ mouths water. On top of that, most of the excursion activities depart directly from the hotel. And beyond all that, there are bikes available, kayaks, and a very cool Flintstones-themed gym.
I noticed during my stay that the great pleasure of the guests was indeed to enjoy every moment, whether in the private pool, the restaurant, the private beach cabana, and so on.
Now let’s get to the good part — photos of the restaurant’s menu, but let’s take it in stages! The first part will be the breakfast experience across the hotel’s various accommodations. I want everyone to be able to appreciate and understand a little of this experience.
Breakfast

As promised, let’s explore a bit more of this iconic hotel’s cuisine, and in a special way. In my humble opinion, I believe Villas Taturé is among the five hotels whose cuisine I loved, and there’s an explanation for that. It’s not made to please tourists — rather, it’s a demand of the owner. At just 25 years old, the company’s CEO is exacting. Gilson Machado Neto has a true fascination with fine dining. Encouraged by his father, Gilson Machado, and his mother Sarita, he spares no effort to achieve a high standard in his cuisine, combined with the tradition of northeastern Brazilian cooking. You must be wondering what’s different about the cuisine, and the answer is: originality, personalisation, sophistication — it has to be special. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a coconut tapioca with cheese, or whether that tapioca comes with bacon, jams, or whatever you can imagine — it will arrive perfect. The same goes for the traditional couscous, which comes accompanied by dried beef in a cream sauce. I felt at home; the food is, without a doubt, one of the most fantastic and dazzling memories one can have. Writing this now, I can recall and even taste the soft, succulent octopus melting in my mouth like fresh French butter. The delicate acidity of the ceviche, the perfect doneness of the Taturé barbecue meat, the softness of the warm, well-seasoned couscous! The famous coconut spaghetti, an invention of Mr. Gilson Sr., with shrimp and fresh tomato sauce; the spectacular fish in a flaming salt crust; the shrimp risotto; the Taturé lobster; the fish in a banana leaf, among others. I could spend the whole day talking about every aspect and detail of the dishes, but our journey through this paradise will still be long. Now travel through these images, delicately photographed to illustrate this remarkable gastronomic experience.
Dishes and Desserts

Gilson told me that the one who created that baked coconut sweet was his grandmother! And without them imagining it, it became the house’s top request! I was intrigued; after I photographed it, he explained the details to me. His grandmother used to make this delicacy at family gatherings, when the property was still their summer home! I found myself imagining what that gathering must have been like — was it like my grandmother’s house? I wondered! I believe so!
The dessert has a soft, delicate, succulent texture, with a farm-like aroma; it carries our minds back to the past — it seems there’s the touch not only of Gilson’s grandmother, but of all the grandmothers in the world. She managed to stay present every day at the farm through a simple recipe. The most unbelievable part is that the ice cream is also coconut; everything is made by hand. Tasting the ice cream, I felt the pieces of fresh coconut — it’s such an extraordinary combination that it’s hard to believe it exists! Something so common in our lands and so little explored.
I don’t know what else to say! I even miss the flavour, the texture, the delicate sweetness that never becomes cloying. You have to try it! For me, it’s the very essence of perfect simplicity!

And the appetizers? We certainly can’t leave aside these delicious treats — and all of it with a fantastic blend of fine dining and breathtaking scenery! Savouring a good appetizer is always great; eating it with the sea at your doorstep is another thing entirely! What’s coming is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most fantastic experiences I’ve ever lived!
Here are some examples of what the visitor will enjoy.
Appetizers

About the pool — being quite honest, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pool as beautiful as this one. And what makes this little corner so special is how it was built. An infinity edge, surrounded by coconut palms, and all of it by the sea. You might think I’m exaggerating, but I’m not; I believe that, besides the cuisine, it was one of the things I covered most in the work. And all of this has its reason: relaxing in its comfortable loungers, having a delicious drink, watching a perfect sunset, taking photos in the late afternoon, enjoying a delicious breakfast and unwinding in countless ways! It’s simply perfect! It feels as though we’re stepping through a doorway of coconut palms amid an immensity of crystal-clear waters.
The pool of a lifetime

After an intense day full of adventures, it’s time to rest, and for that Villas Taturé offers ultra-exclusive accommodations with an out-of-this-world atmosphere. Among the various types of accommodation, some deserve a special mention. The newest features a huge glass structure, with a bathtub in a small garden and a gigantic pool outside! Ideal for those who love plenty of space. It’s worth noting that all the beds are extremely large, super comfortable, and with linens that rival five-star hotels. The wooden details of the rooms bring a rustic, welcoming atmosphere. The suite’s items carry a scent of wine, especially Sauvignon Blanc. These details make all the difference and turn a stay into a true sensory experience. I selected three types to present to you! And I confess that all of them bring an absolute sense of peace and tranquillity.
The bungalows

For those who love photography, Villas Taturé is a complete setting, with light that enhances the images! Whether at the start of the day or in the late afternoon, the light is perfect. Thanks to the great number of coconut palms throughout the hotel, an inviting atmosphere is created. This fall of direct light creates a special play of light and shadow, perfect for lovers of this art.
I took some photos to illustrate a bit of the hotel’s lifestyle. Photos whose purpose is to truthfully convey what can be experienced and what kind of experience the guest can have!

And to wrap up this incredible journey through Villas Taturé in style, we’ll embark on an aerial tour of the region, showing from another perspective the majestic beauty of São Miguel dos Milagres beach.
